The Chronicles of Draconia - Brooding About the Future

Three years have passed, the Empress has laid her brood of eggs.  The Patriarch fertilized them in the old traditions, but something is amiss.  The Science Councilor has managed to stabilize passage between Draconia and another planet, but only organic things with a consciousness can pass through.  None of the grand technologies can be saved, and the Council is planning for the future of their species.

"Councilor K'Norsskss, your portal device is wondrous indeed, but how do you plan on using this to gain control of The People from the Patriarch?" began Councilor En'Fre'Yl, the former Patriarch of the Western Hemisphere of Draconia.

"Very simply.  As we all know, the Patriarch resisted ever spawning a brood until he had unified The People as an attempt to prevent anybody from manipulating him, or his bloodline.  What he seems to have forgotten is that Draconian Traditional Law states that any heir must have been hatched on the homeworld.  What I propose is that when the brood hatches, the Council will have to acknowledge the brood as having been spawned on the homeworld, unless we decide that the homeworld is no longer where the brood hatched.  If the Patriarch takes the brood to this Terra, we declare that Draconia is still the homeworld.  If they are hatched here, we declare that Terra is our new homeworld for Draconia is dead.  Then we merely need to decide which of our heirs gets to be the new Patriarch."

"My lovely Empress, please wake.  I have a task for you to save our heirs."

The Empress writhes in the nest, disturbing vast swaths of the hoard.  "Yes, my dearest Patriarch?"

"Wra'cova, I need you to go through this portal while I'm in meeting this `noon.  Take the half of our brood I have marked.  Khee`joff's work in manipulating my spermatozoa appears to have been successful.  Our brood of 6 eggs is truly just 3 pairs of identical heirs.  We will confound the Council's shallow efforts to destroy our ruling of The People."

"When will you tell them that you know of their stupid plans?"

"When the brood hatches, Ja`cov and Wa`cov's mere tandem existence will let the Council know.  Then we purge the ones we need to."
